Getting Started

How does TopKnock work?

You sign up, tell us your trade and service area, and our small team builds and runs your Facebook + Instagram ad campaigns. AI is the multiplier — it drafts 10-30 ad variations in your voice so we can do this at a fraction of agency prices — but a real person reviews every ad for compliance (Meta Housing SAC, FTC, TILA), and you approve every campaign before it goes live. Nothing hits Meta on autopilot. Leads come straight to your phone via SMS alerts.

Do I need a Facebook ad account?

Yes — but if you don't have one, it takes about 10 minutes to set up. We have a step-by-step setup guide that walks you through the whole process. You can find it at topknock.ai/setup-guide.

How soon will I see leads?

Most contractors see their first leads within 3-7 days of campaign launch. New ad accounts may take 24-48 hours for Meta to approve the first ads, and spending limits start low but increase quickly.

What trades do you support?

Plumbers, electricians, roofers, HVAC, painters, landscapers, general contractors, cleaners, pest control, garage door, fencing, concrete, remodelers, window installers, flooring, solar — and more. If your trade isn't listed, reach out and we'll add it.

Pricing & Billing

How much does TopKnock cost?

Three plans: Starter ($247/mo), Growth ($747/mo), and Pro ($1,497/mo). Save ~20% with annual billing: Starter ($2,372/yr), Growth ($7,171/yr), Pro ($14,371/yr). No contracts — cancel anytime. Tiers are sized to the Meta ad budget you manage: Starter covers up to $1,500/mo in ad spend, Growth up to $5,000/mo, and Pro up to $15,000/mo — plus bigger territories, more images, and more features at each step. Run more than your tier's cap and you stay live (we never throttle), with a 3% management fee on the overage capped at $1,500/mo so your bill is always predictable.

What do you mean by "ad spend under management"?

It's the total you spend on Meta ads through your connected ad account each calendar month. You pay Meta directly (we never touch the money) — TopKnock just tracks the total to make sure your plan matches your scale. Run past your cap and we don't shut anything off. Growth and Pro pay 3% of the overage (capped at $1,500/mo so the bill stays predictable); Starter customers we'll prompt to upgrade. Existing campaigns keep running through the whole transition.

How many campaigns should I run?

Fewer than you'd think. Facebook's algorithm works best when each campaign has enough budget to generate ~50 conversions per week. For most contractors at $20-30/day that's 1-2 active campaigns. Our campaign wizard automatically recommends the right number for your budget — running too many at once dilutes your spend and keeps Facebook from learning which ads work. Starter supports up to 3 active campaigns, Growth up to 10, Pro is unlimited.

Who pays for the ad spend?

You pay Meta (Facebook) directly. Your credit card goes on your own Meta ad account, and Meta charges you for ad spend. TopKnock never touches your ad money — we only charge the platform subscription separately through Stripe.

How much should I spend on ads?

We recommend starting at $20-30/day ($600-900/month). Most contractors see $15-40 cost per lead depending on trade and location. Even at the low end, that's 15-30+ leads per month.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. No contracts, no commitments. Cancel from your account settings or email support@topknock.ai. Your ad account and leads are always yours.

Do you offer any kind of guarantee?

Yes. If we don't deliver the lead minimums for your tier in your first 30 days running TopKnock — 3 leads on Starter, 10 on Growth, 20 on Pro — your second month is free. We track this from the day your campaign goes ACTIVE on Meta (not from signup). Plain English, no hoops. Full terms at topknock.ai/guarantee.

Do you have a referral program?

Yes — refer another contractor and both of you save $100. Your friend gets $100 off their first month; you get a $100 Stripe credit on their first paid invoice. Grab your referral link from Settings once you're signed up.

Territory & Exclusivity

What is Territory Lock?

TopKnock gives each contractor an exclusive radius around their business. No competing contractor in your same trade can advertise through TopKnock within your territory. We will not create overlapping campaigns. Your area, your leads. First come, first served.

How big is my territory?

Starter includes a 15-mile radius with one optional +5mi expansion to 20mi total. Growth gives you 30 miles included (max 45mi). Pro covers 40 miles included (max 50mi — Meta's single-pin cap). Expansions are $49/mo per +5 miles up to your tier's max. The minimum is 15 miles to match Meta's Special Ads Category targeting requirements. Most contractors at 20mi on Starter upgrade to Growth within 60 days because they hit other Growth-tier needs at the same time (parallel A/B testing, landing pages, automated SMS drip).

Why does my trade get a different radius recommendation?

Different trades travel different distances. Lawn care and cleaning are tight-radius (10-15mi) because the job value is low — drive time kills margin. Most home services (plumbing, electrical, painting) are standard (15-25mi). Big-ticket and specialty trades (roofing, HVAC, solar, remodeling, excavation) reach 25-40mi because a $10,000 job justifies a 45-minute drive. Our onboarding wizard picks a starting recommendation based on your trade, your tier, and whether you're in a metro, suburban, or rural area. You can always override it with the slider.

What if my area is already taken?

If another contractor in your trade has an overlapping territory, we'll show you the maximum radius you can claim without conflict. If there's no room (competitor is too close), try a different location — or add yourself to the waitlist and we'll email you if they cancel. Territories are first come, first served.

Ads

Can I see my ads before they go live?

Yes. Every ad goes through our Ad Preview Studio where you can approve, reject, or request changes before it runs. You're always in control of what represents your business.

Do the ads get smarter over time?

Yes. Our AI tracks what's working — which headlines, images, and angles get the best results — and automatically creates more of what converts. The longer you use TopKnock, the better your ads perform.

How do you prevent ad fatigue?

We automatically rotate your ads — different images, headlines, and angles — before your audience gets tired of seeing the same ads. We monitor frequency and swap ads every 7-14 days, or sooner if performance dips.

Do you react to weather events like storms?

Yes. Our weather monitoring detects storms, hail, high winds, and freeze events in your area. When severe weather hits, we flag the spike and recommend a budget bump for the relevant angle (storm-damage for roofers, emergency heat for HVAC) — you approve it in one click, so you're first in market when demand surges.

Are the ads compliant with Facebook's rules?

Absolutely. Home-services ads follow fair-housing rules on Facebook (no targeting by age, gender, or ZIP). TopKnock automatically handles all of it — proper category selection, targeting restrictions, and content guidelines. You don't need to worry about getting your account flagged.

Leads & Reporting

How do I get notified about new leads?

Instant SMS alerts for hot leads (scored 80+). Every lead also appears in your lead inbox inside TopKnock. No more missed calls or lost form submissions.

What is lead scoring?

Each lead gets a 0-100 quality score based on phone validation, email quality, and other signals. This tells you who to call first — the hot leads who are ready to book, not the tire-kickers.

What kind of reports do I get?

Weekly email reports in plain English — spend, leads, cost per lead, and what's working. Pro tier gets monthly AI strategy reports with specific recommendations, branded PDF reports, and a monthly strategy call.

What if I'm too busy to take more leads?

Growth and Pro tiers include capacity-based ad scaling. Connect your Google Calendar and TopKnock will automatically reduce ad spend when you're booked up and increase it when your schedule opens up.

Pro Tier Features

What are AI social posts?

Pro tier gets 4 ready-to-post social captions per week — a tip, a real project (from a recent job you tell us about via Recent Jobs in Settings), a review highlight that celebrates a real 5-star Google review, and a behind-the-scenes personality post. They use your voice profile so they sound like you, not a bot. We write, you paste: captions and images are delivered to your dashboard every Monday, and you copy/paste to your own Facebook and Instagram. (We don't post to your accounts for you — that's a separate Meta permission most contractors don't want to hand over.)

What are AI blog posts?

Pro tier gets one SEO-optimized blog post per week — written in your voice, on seasonal topics with local keywords, and emailed to you ready to paste into your own website's blog (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, whatever you use). That way the SEO boost accrues to YOUR domain, not ours. Over 6-12 months it builds organic traffic that keeps bringing leads after you stop spending on ads.

What is the contractor landing page?

Every Pro contractor gets their own public landing page at topknock.ai/c/[your-business]. It's your trade, your service area, your voice — plus your real Google rating and review count. Your weekly social posts link back to it, and the page captures leads through a phone-forward form. You don't need a separate website to benefit from Pro, but if you have one, our blog posts help it rank in Google.

What is the competitor intelligence feature?

We analyze what other contractors in your area are running on Facebook and Instagram — their messaging angles, ad styles, and estimated spend. Every week Pro contractors get a delta report: who changed their messaging, who upped their spend, who launched new creatives. This helps you find gaps in the market and respond fast when a rival shifts strategy.

What is revenue attribution?

Pro tier closes the loop between ads and booked jobs. When you mark a lead as converted in TopKnock (say, a $12,000 roof job), we send that revenue event straight back to Meta from our server (no browser, no ad-blockers, no missing data). Over a few weeks Meta's algorithm learns which ad creatives, angles, and audiences produce real booked jobs — not just cheap leads. Your dashboard shows cost per booked job, not just cost per lead. This is the feature that separates real ad programs from Boost Post tinkering.

What is MACA?

MACA is Multi-Angle Campaign Automation — our core engine. Instead of one ad with one angle, MACA runs multiple messaging angles against your audience at the same time (storm damage vs. financing vs. emergency service vs. reviews, etc.), measures which wins, expands budget on winners, and kills losers automatically. Starter tests 1 angle at a time (sequential). Growth runs 2 angles in parallel. Pro runs the full 5 angles simultaneously — the same setup we use internally on our own ads.

Does automated follow-up (SMS + email) work on every tier?

Growth and Pro both get automated SMS + email follow-up when a lead doesn't pick up the phone. Starter doesn't — solo contractors usually answer their own calls, and the cost of the tracking numbers alone makes Starter a minimum setup. Pro adds voicemail drop on top (you upload a pre-recorded voice message, we drop it into ringless voicemail for high-value leads).
